WHERE WE STAYED

The Delta Edmonton South is located just of the Whitemud and Gateway Blvd. It’s a great location with easy access to the river valley, Snow Valley and Southgate mall.

This hotel is BIG, has tons of room options, a pool & fitness centre and 2 great restaurants on site.

There is also a business centre if you should need it.

The Delta Edmonton South offers 29,000 square feet of meeting space including one of the most legendary wedding venues in the city; “The Top of The Inn”. I have been to a wedding here at the top of the hotel and it was incredible!

Check in is 3pm and Check out is 12pm.

THE ROOMS

If you want options for hotel rooms - they are all here! The most impressive? Definitely the two level loft suites. These are so beautiful and offer a ton of room.

We stayed in a bunk bed room or as the hotel calls them “ Kid Zone” rooms. It was perfect for our family. The kids had a separate sleeping area from the main area and they absolutely loved it.

No detail is left out. Each bed had their own little light and if your kids are younger - the top bunk had high enough edges that it felt really safe.

The suite was a generous size and there was a bathtub too which is a lifesaver with kids!

A nice addition was having Netflix and Amazon Prime on our TV. Just sign into your account and you’re good to go! Everything was personalized; when we walked in; the TV screen said “Welcome Jacqueline”. The kids thought this was really cool.

Each room has a coffee maker, fridge, microwave and robes.

Wifi is also included.

WHERE WE ATE

There are two onsite restaurants at The Delta South Edmonton. We had dinner at Aurora and breakfast at 4404. Aurora’s menu offered a great selection for dinner with impressive happy hour and days of the week specials. I was also impressed with their selections of local brews and non alcoholic choices. Riz was our waiter and he was outstanding.

For dinner we tried the Chicken Rigatoni and Prime Rib Burger. From the children’s menu; the Chicken Fingers and the Fish and Chips. I am still dreaming about that Chicken Rigatoni ( which they were able to make spicy for me!)

For desserts the kids all got a sundae included with their meals and I of course had the cheesecake. All were top notch.

4404 ‘s menu has been created with fresh ingredients, celebrating local producers and showcasing global inspired dishes. It was one of the most delicious breakfasts I’ve ever had. The kids loved the pancakes and the French toast from the kids menu. I tried the 4404 Croque Monsieur and it was soooo good. No eggs; the way I like it!

For the adults- Aurora Lounge is a great spot to start or end the night. It is the perfect blend of sophistication and comfort. Dimmed lighting, an extensive drink menu and comfy couches offer an inviting space for unwinding after a long day or starting the night with friends.

BONUS! You can enjoy Starbucks coffee and grab and go food without leaving the hotel! I absolutely loved having Starbucks right in the lobby. Def took advantage of this in the morning as Tripp was up partying until 11:30pm. The boy hates to miss ANYTHING haha.

THE POOL & FITNESS AREA

You know we love a great pool! The Delta Edmonton South did not disappoint. It’s bright, big and fun! It is open from 7am - 11pm. I loved the huge windows. Towels were right at the pool and there were lots of places to sit and lounge. We spent a lot of time here. I can happily report the pool is WARM so it was actually awesome getting in and playing with the kids. I think that’s why we all lasted so long in there!

There is also a whirlpool that feels great after a long day!

A big workout room is by the pool with quite a bit of equipment and machines that are available to guests. It is open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

OUR ITINERARY

Here is an idea of some of the things you could check out while staying at the Delta Edmonton South. As mentioned before; they are in a great location with access to Snow Valley, a short drive to West Edmonton Mall & Southgate Mall and of course the gorgeous river valley.

3pm: Arrive at the hotel, check in and get settled. Kids call dibs on their beds and I get a second to relax on the couch!

4:00pm: We headed down to Snow Valley! Yes- it’s open in the summer! You have probably seen the aerial park tower driving by on the Whitemud. It’s open for the summer months and is a ton of fun for kids AND adults! They also have Target & Mini Golf and Gold Mining! And of course the many trails you can walk / run.

In the winter, you can ski or snowboard and also snowshoe through the gorgeous trails

6:30pm: Dinner reservations at Aurora Lounge. The restaurant is right in the lobby of the hotel and offers local fare and a kids menu. See the menu HERE

7:30pm: Head on over to the pool!! We spent the majority of our time here in the evening. The kids could not get enough!

Some ALTERNATIVES: Head to South Edmonton Common or Southgate Mall for some shopping and dining! Catch a movie at South Edmonton Common Cineplex.

10:00pm: Settle into the hotel room and call it a night! ( Unless you have my 2 year old son with you…then call it a night at 11:30pm haha).

……………

9am: Wake up and head to the elevator to 4404 for a fantastic breakfast. You can see the menu HERE.

10:30am: Sneak in one last pool dip! This was a great and refreshing way to get our day going.

12pm: Check out!
