Girls Night Out (And IN!) at The Hyatt West Edmonton

My best friend Jessica and I met in preschool when we were 4 years old. Now, 35 years later, we are still best friends. But to be honest; we don’t see each other as often as we should. With 6 kids between us; life is BUSY. But finally- the stars aligned and we were able to make some time for ourselves and for each other. We left the kids at home ( with the dads haha!) and had one of the most fun nights at the Hyatt West Edmonton. Here’s why you should consider doing the same with Edmonton’s Best Hotels!

Whether it’s a staycation, a date night, a pampering weekend or a special trip; there are some incredible hotels and we’re here to help you pick the perfect one!

When you book a hotel through Edmonton’s Best Hotels ; you get extra incentives like gas cards, gift certificates to restaurants or prepaid mastercards, even tickets to exciting events! No catch - you just gotta book through the Edmonton’s Best Hotels website.

WHERE WE STAYED

The Hyatt West Edmonton is a contemporary hotel located about 2 minutes from West Edmonton Mall.

It’s a fantastic hotel to book as it offers a ton of amenities with every booking. Things like free parking, a heated indoor pool & fitness centre, free wifi, updated spacious rooms, onsite laundry, meeting facilities, a marketplace and bar.

There is a restaurant on site that does offer 24/7 dining however some of the hours are take out only. The real plus was having breakfast included in the room rate. And it was a BIG breakfast!

There are 161 rooms . Check in is 3pm and check out is 11am.

ROOMS

There are a few different layout options to choose from but the thing that I noticed was that all rooms are pretty spacious. We stayed in a one bedroom king suite and it was like an apartment! It even had it’s own FULL kitchen!

Of the 161 rooms in the hotel there are King rooms with a sofa bed, 2 Queen rooms with a sofa bed and the one bedroom suites. There are accessible rooms as well.

Every room features the Hyatt Grand Bed®s, a 48" swivelling flat panel Smart HDTV with apps, a Cozy Corner sectional sofa-sleeper, a refrigerator and a Coffee Maker.

The bathrooms adorn granite countertops and complimentary amenities from KenetMD™. And you can get connected anywhere with their free Wi-Fi and remote printing.

Speaking of the bathroom- great lighting and LOTS of space. Where, for two moms who are approaching 40 - was good given our elaborate skin care routines haha!

THE POOL, HOT TUB & FITNESS CENTRE

There is an indoor heated pool and a hot tub on site. It’s a beautiful facility with light shining right in. The hot tub was perfect after a night of shopping! Towels are provided at the pool. The fitness centre is well equipped and as always, while I saw people using it - I didn’t haha. But if I had to - it looked nice.

WEST EDMONTON MALL

This was awesome - we were a 2 minute drive from West Edmonton Mall. We spent the evening shopping ( for who else- our kids!) and decided to have dinner at Cactus Club Cafe. I cannot even begin to explain how nice it was to have an uninterrupted meal that was HOT!

We shared a kale salad ( HIGHLY recommend), Jess had the fish tacos and I had the butternut squash ravioli with pine nuts.

Having West Edmonton Mall so close was great for us as girlfriends but it’s also nice if you are staying overnight with your family! It’s the largest shopping mall in North America that features over 800 stores, Galaxyland amusement park, and World Water Park.

The Hyatt West Edmonton is located in a prime spot; you can easily access Edmonton attractions like The Telus World of Science, the Citadel Theatre, and the futuristic-looking Art Gallery of Alberta. There’s plenty to do outdoors as well at the historical Fort Edmonton Park, and the Edmonton Valley Zoo . If you love winter sports; Rabbit Hill Snow Resort & Snow Valley are a short drive away.

FOOD

The Hyatt West Edmonton has a restaurant on site that does offer 24/7 service (Amazing!). Some hours you can only order take out; so you just call the kitchen with your order and come down from your room to pick it up. While we didn’t get a chance to try this feature out; the menu did look so delicious!

Every morning; a free breakfast is offered. It was substantial; with eggs, bacon, pastries ( even little donuts!!!), hash browns, fruit, oatmeal, fresh juice, coffee and cereal. It was really nice.

Breakfast is served Monday–Friday: 6:30–9:00 a.m & Saturday & Sunday: 7:00–10:00 a.m.

If you need a little snack or a drink there is also a marketplace where you can purchase items. And there is a bar too!

Located in a great spot on the west end you are just a short drive from many restaurants including Earls, Guru, The Keg, Cafe Amore and Cactus Club Cafe.

PETS

The Hyatt West Edmonton IS pet friendly! Although I did not bring Cactus this time; I should have! The rooms would have been great for him; lots of space.

For guests staying 1-6 nights, a $75 non-refundable pet fee will be administered. Guests staying 7-30 nights, a $75 non-refundable pet fee plus an additional $100 cleaning fee will be administered.

There are weight limits. Only dogs weighing 50 lbs. and under are permitted; two dogs may be allowed in a guestroom provided the combined weight of both dogs does not exceed 75 pounds.

PARKING

There is lots of parking on site and it is absolutely free! There are also plug ins for block heaters in the winter.
