For this stay; we’re at The Coast Edmonton Plaza Hotel by APA. It just underwent an extensive renovation and has opened up a brand new spa that blew our minds! Read on to find out why you gotta bring your mom downtown!

WHERE WE STAYED

My mom is quite the world traveller so she was literally in town just for the weekend. I knew we had to make this stay special for her. The Coast Edmonton Plaza Hotel by APA did not disappoint.

The location is perfect; you’re just a stones throw away from shopping, dining and the exciting downtown lifestyle. It’s also unique in that it’s truly a one stop shop. They have a great restaurant on site ( Preston’s …more on this later), they have a pool and hot tub as well as a brand new SPA ( RB Beauty Japanese Spa) ! You don’t ever really need to leave the hotel if you don’t want to.

So that’s exactly what we did haha we indulged in everything The Coast had to offer.

The hotel has 299 well-appointed guest rooms and suites that are suitable for families or long-term guests. They are also pet friendly and offer tons of amenities. Check in is 3pm and check out is 11am.

ROOMS

As mentioned above, there are 299 guest rooms at the Coast. But it doesn’t feel that large! As soon as you walk in; there is a comfortable homey feel. The large fireplace greets you and the decor is warm.

They have guest rooms and suites to fit big and small. But here is the thing that EVERYONE is talking about. Every single room has a TOTO® Washlet in the bathroom aka a very impressive bidet. I won’t go into too much detail haha but once you have a heated seat; you will never go back. They are so popular that many guests actually buy them after their stay. For real! They sell them at the front desk and I had a few people message me during our stay that they had actually ended up buying them and were so happy.

We stayed in a “Coast King” room and it was plenty big! The bed was sooo comfy ( could be the standard triple-sheeted beds ) and the view was spectacular. The room had a couch and a mini fridge as well as a work desk. Complimentary water & coffee were provided and all guests have access to free hotel WiFi.

THE SPA

Brand new to the Coast Edmonton Plaza Hotel is a Japanese Spa! RB Beauty Spa has just opened and offers unique services like KORUGI and KOBIDO Japanese Facial Massages.

My mom and I were treated to a hybrid of the two : The KOBI KORUGI

From their website:

“This is a world best facial massage ever. We created a new method called “ KOBI KORUGI “. This is the one of the most powerful techniques for rejuvenation of face life and overall facial & head muscles, stress reduction and mind healing. KOBI KORUGI Facial Massage uses methods such as deep pressure , pinching , patting, etc. to stimulate the bones and improve the flow of lymph and blood circulation.

90 mins includes: facial slide cupping , hot stone face and neck massage, oil massage on the neck and upper back and shoulders, facial KOBI KORUGI massage, natural Vitamin C bubble cleansing and moisturizer, head massage with Reiki healing.”

Let me tell you - WOW. This was an amazing facial. Truth be told we were both pretty nervous when they told us they would be pinching our face and patting it rapidly haha. But it was weirdly so awesome and our faces felt pretty tight and full after! I really enjoyed it.

It was really nice to just wake up in the morning, have some breakfast and then head to the spa. It truly felt like a royal treat!

THE POOL & STEAMROOM

There is a pool, hot tub and a steamroom at the Coast! The hot tub is unique in that it is actually higher than the rest of the area; you actually have to go up stairs to climb into it. It feels very fancy. The area is bright and has huge windows looking outside.

When we were there; there were a ton of families staying at the hotel and they LOVED the pool. I saw so many sweet families playing games and having a great night there.

WHERE WE ATE - PRESTONS

We had dinner as well as breakfast at the onsite restaurant, Prestons. Both meals were so yummy. Service was very friendly and it was just nice to have a hot meal and uninterupted conversation! Moms; you get it!

They have a brand new celebrity Chef; Kayla Dhaliwall, who has now partnered with them! She has competed on Top Chef Canada, contributed to cookbooks, lifestyle magazines, national media outlets, and has experience as the personal chef for the X Factor in Los Angeles.

So needless to say; the food was fantastic!

And a BONUS for Mother’s Day : They will have a special Mother’s Day Brunch! What a great gift to treat your mom to the pampering experience of the Coast and Brunch!

PETS

I am excited to tell you that the Coast Edmonton Plaza by APA IS pet friendly!

There is a pet fee of $25 per pet, per day, but they will not charge you more than $75 per pet, per week. There is a maximum of two dogs per room and they welcome all different dog sizes including large dog breeds. All registered pets may receive a special amenity package when you check in, upon request. They also supply pet sheets for the sofa and food bowls if needed.

Pets are not allowed in the restaurant, lounge, meeting facilities, or any other food and beverage area of the hotel.

FITNESS AREA

There is a fitness area in the hotel as well - and it has a beautiful view of a park! Best of all; it is in it’s own air conditioned room! It wasn’t huge but definitely had everything you would need for a good workout.

PARKING

There is parking on site for a fee. It is covered and secure with in and out privileges. They also have Tesla and Sun Country Highway electric vehicle chargers. There are two additional parking lots across the street as well for oversized vehicles (but availability may vary).
