Tonight were At The Sandman Signature Sherwood Park. This hotel blew my socks off! From the moment we stepped into the grand lobby to the last ride on the waterslide; The Sandman Signature in Sherwood Park did not disappoint. I had the opportunity to tour some of the suites and other rooms during our stay; this hotel truly has something for everyone. If you’re looking for a fun family getaway like we were- this is the place! If you’re looking for a date night getaway; their suites are perfect. I was REALLY impressed with our time here. There was even someone celebrating their 100th birthday at the hotel the weekend we were there. I thought that was pretty special.
WHERE WE STAYED
The Sandman Signature in Sherwood Park is a beautiful hotel. It’s in a great location in Sherwood Park; about 1km from the Emerald Hills shopping area. It has 229 premium rooms including suites ( with separate living areas!) , Kitchenettes, King rooms and Double Queen rooms. They also have the option of adjoining rooms; which is what we stayed in.
There is a restaurant attached to the hotel, Chop Steakhouse & Bar ( more on this later!), an indoor pool & hot tub as well as a modern fitness center. They are pet friendly and offer tons of amenities.
If you have work/ play to do in downtown Edmonton; its about a 20 minute car ride.
Check in is 3pm and Check out is 11 am.
ROOMS
This is where the Sandman REALLY shines. They have a huge variety of rooms to suit everyone. We stayed in two rooms that were joined by a door ( just like the movies!). The “parent” room was a King room with a sofa and had plenty of room for us and the crib. The crib was provided by the hotel- that is such a nice thing to have! If you ever need one - just ask when you book your reservation and they will be happy to provide it. One less thing to pack! The “kids” room was a double queen room and the girls loved having their own space.
Shelley, the sales manager, took me on a tour of some of the Kitchenette Suites as well as the King Soaker Tub Suite. Oh my gosh; that soaker tub suite was so beautiful (see pics below!) . The awesome thing about the kitchenette suites is that they come stocked; there are pots and pans and even a cooktop. Certain suites have full size fridges and all have separate living & sleeping areas.
The one thing I really noticed in every single room was the bathrooms. White, clean marble and ALL showers have a rain shower. Amazing. Gorgeous lighting and all the soaps, shampoos, lotions and amenities you could need!
All rooms have tea and coffee, a microwave, a mini fridge and flat screen TVs. WiFi is included with your stay. This hotel screams “NEW” and I loved it.
THE POOL ( & WATERSLIDE!)
Ok this was the golden egg for us haha. The Waterslide had the girls so excited and the pool area lived up to ALL of our expectations. It was a blast. If you stay at this hotel only for this, it will be worth it. They also have a hot tub which was really nice ( my fav no surprise there). The waterslide is a good one ; it’s fast but both girls were able to go down on it by themselves with no problems. Towels are provided at the pool. We all had giant smiles on our faces the entire time here. THIS is the true gem of the Sandman. Plus they had the cutest lounge chair for Tripp - he really made himself at home just judging the girls jumps and dives.
WHERE WE ATE
One of the most convenient things at The Sandman was the fact that CHOP Steakhouse & Bar is attached right to the Hotel. My 3 year old daughter Lilly didn’t even have to wear shoes. Even though she should have haha sorry about that. Picking my battles these days.
CHOP Steakhouse is open all day - we went for a 7:30pm dinner and an 8:30am breakfast. Both were fantastic. They have a great kids menu for all meals and the service was outstanding at dinner. They specialize in steak and seafood and our dishes did not disappoint.
The Sandman Signature in Sherwood Park also offers room service and that is through CHOP as well.
In the mornings, there is complimentary tea and coffee in the lobby. As well they have a little “Mini Market” so if you’ve forgotten anything from home (like laundry soap or a charger etc) or if you want a sweet treat they have a great assortment of things there for you and your family.
PETS
The Sandman Signature Sherwood Park IS pet friendly! Cactus got to come with us and he loved it! There is a pet fee of $30/ day up to a max of $150/ week. Each guestroom is limited to 2 pets.
FITNESS AREA
There is fitness area in the hotel available to guests from 7am - 11pm. WHAT a view. It is quite large and offers giant windows. Key card access to the fitness room features up to date aerobic equipment, weights and mats. While I didn’t get a chance to try it out; my husband Bobby did and he loved it.
PARKING
As our registered guest, parking is absolutely free! There is LOTS of parking too which is nice.
